India, June 16 -- The Indian Railways has approved a Rs 140 crore project for the installation of Kavach Version 4.0 across the Ahmedabad Division of Western Railway in Gujarat, further strengthening railway safety infrastructure.
The project will cover 598 route kilometres spanning 48 block sections and has been sanctioned under the umbrella programme for deploying Kavach with an LTE-based communication backbone across the Indian Railways network.
The Ahmedabad Division already had Kavach deployment sanctioned on approximately 702 route kilometres. With the latest approval, the remaining sections of the division will also be covered, enabling wider implementation of the indigenous train protection system across the entire division.
