India, June 15 -- Domestic passenger vehicle dispatches from manufacturers to dealers rose 27.3 per cent year-on-year to a record 4,38,854 units in May 2026, driven by stronger consumer demand following GST rate reductions and improved financing availability, according to industry body Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers.

Passenger vehicle dispatches stood at 3,44,656 units in May 2025, indicating robust growth across the segment.

SIAM said the combination of lower tax rates and easier access to vehicle financing has helped boost consumer purchases, resulting in higher dealer offtake during the month.
