India, June 2 -- State-owned miner NMDC reported a nearly 20% year-on-year increase in iron ore production for May, driven by higher output from its mining operations.

The company produced 5.31 million tonnes (MT) of iron ore during the month, compared with 4.43 MT in the corresponding period last year. However, iron ore sales declined 6.9% year-on-year to 4.04 MT, down from 4.34 MT in May of the previous year, according to the company's provisional data.
