India, Sept. 22 -- Mphasis and Copa Airlines have jointly hosted a global Quantum Computing Challenge aimed at exploring next-generation solutions for complex airline operations.
The international competition brought together teams from Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and Canada's University of Calgary and University of Lethbridge to address a real-world airline optimisation problem involving passenger re-accommodation during flight disruptions.
The challenge focused on using quantum computing to improve the speed and accuracy of reassigning passengers to alternate flights following cancellations, schedule changes or shifts in demand.
