India, Sept. 30 -- Jindal Steel has commissioned a 250 MT Basic Oxygen Furnace (BOF) Converter at its Angul integrated steel plant, adding 3 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of crude steelmaking capacity. With the first heat successfully tapped, the Angul facility's total capacity has increased from 6 MTPA to 9 MTPA, moving closer to the company's target of 12 MTPA within the current financial year.

The commissioning of Blast Furnace 2 alongside the BOF Converter represents a major milestone in India's steel self-reliance journey. The integrated operations will support steady supply of domestically produced steel to critical sectors including infrastructure, energy, automotive, oil & gas, and real estate.
