India, April 6 -- Jindal Steel is emerging as a key player in India's coal gasification revolution, leveraging indigenous coal to enhance energy security and promote low-carbon steel production.
The company has achieved a global milestone by setting up India's first coal gasification-based Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) plant, utilising syngas for iron-making. In a further innovation, it has successfully deployed syngas in galvanising and colour coating furnaces—marking a first in the steel industry—helping mitigate fuel shortages amid constrained supplies of natural gas, LPG, and propane.
