India, July 17 -- Indian Railways is set to introduce India's first Hydrogen Fuel Cell Train, marking a major milestone in the country's transition towards clean and sustainable rail transportation. The train generates its own electricity onboard using hydrogen fuel cells, producing water vapour as the only direct emission and eliminating the need for diesel or overhead electric power.

The hydrogen-powered train will operate on the Jind–Sonipat section with an operational speed of 75 kmph and a design speed of 110 kmph.
