India, Aug. 6 -- Indian Railways is currently operating 19 Rail Neer packaged drinking water plants across the country to meet the demand for safe drinking water in major trains and at railway stations.
The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has been entrusted with setting up Rail Neer plants at identified locations based on demand and operational requirements across the railway network.
According to the government, the estimated cost of establishing a Rail Neer plant under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model is around Rs 10 crore for a facility with a production capacity of 1 lakh bottles per day.
