India, Sept. 1 -- Indian Railways has approved Rs 170 crore for the deployment of Kavach Version 4.0 across the remaining 712 Route Kilometres (Rkm) of Moradabad Division under Northern Railway.

The project will strengthen railway safety infrastructure by expanding coverage of Kavach, India's indigenous Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system, across the identified sections.

Kavach is designed to enhance train safety by helping prevent Signal Passing at Danger (SPAD), automatically applying brakes when required, regulating train speeds in critical situations and reducing the risk of collisions.
