India, June 22 -- Indian Railways has approved the deployment of the indigenous Kavach train protection system across 631 route kilometres (RKm) of the East Coast Railway network at an estimated cost of Rs 270 crore, further advancing its efforts to enhance railway safety and operational efficiency.

The project will cover six key railway sections: Baghuapal–Budhapank, Haridaspur–Paradeep, Khurda Road–Balangir, Naupada–Gunupur, Lanjigarh Road–Junagarh, and Bobbili–Salur.
