India, March 18 -- The Indian Navy has commenced the second edition of the Indian Ocean Ship (IOS) SAGAR initiative on March 16, 2026, reaffirming India's commitment to strengthening maritime security and cooperation in the Indian Ocean Region.

The latest edition follows India assuming the chair of the Indian Ocean Naval Symposium (IONS) in February 2026 and includes participation from 16 member nations across the region. The initiative aligns with India's vision of SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region) and the broader MAHASAGAR framework.
