India, Sept. 3 -- India's services sector expanded at its fastest pace in 15 years in August, boosted by a surge in new orders and robust demand conditions, according to a private survey released on Wednesday.

The seasonally adjusted HSBC India Services PMI Business Activity Index rose to 62.9 in August from 60.5 in July, marking the sharpest growth since June 2010.

In PMI terms, a reading above 50 signals expansion, while a score below that level indicates contraction.
