India, Sept. 17 -- The Union Health Ministry has proposed amendments to the Drugs Rules, 1945, aimed at strengthening regulatory oversight of Schedule H, H1 and X drugs and curbing their unauthorized sale and access.
Under the draft notification G.S.R. 791 (E) dated September 8, 2026, medical stores may be required to install CCTV surveillance systems as an additional regulatory safeguard.
The proposal was deliberated by the Drugs Consultative Committee (DCC) and subsequently considered by the Drugs Technical Advisory Board (DTAB), which recommended its approval.
