India, July 8 -- The Ministry of Textiles, through the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handlooms), has launched Handloom Hackathon 2026 – "Weaving Innovation", a nationwide innovation challenge aimed at promoting technology-driven, sustainable, and entrepreneurial solutions for India's handloom sector. The initiative is part of the celebrations for National Handloom Day 2026.
The hackathon invites students, weavers, designers, technologists, startups, entrepreneurs, researchers, and innovators to develop practical solutions across areas such as product and design innovation, sustainability, digital technologies, market access, branding, supply chain efficiency, productivity, business development, and social impact.
