India, July 8 -- The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has notified Navi Mumbai Airport as an authorised port for the import of drugs under the Drugs Rules, 1945, marking a significant step towards strengthening India's pharmaceutical supply chain and improving ease of trade.

The amendment to Rule 43A of the Drugs Rules, 1945, adds Navi Mumbai Airport to the list of designated airports through which pharmaceutical products can be imported. The notification was issued after consultation with the Drugs Technical Advisory Board under the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940.
