India, June 17 -- Gold prices witnessed a sharp decline in the national capital on Wednesday, falling by Rs 4,800 to Rs 1,54,400 per 10 grams amid a stronger rupee and weak global market trends.
According to the All India Sarafa Association, gold of 99.9% purity settled at Rs 1,54,400 per 10 grams, inclusive of all taxes, compared with its previous close of Rs 1,59,200 per 10 grams.
Silver prices also came under pressure, dropping by Rs 5,300 during the session as traders reduced exposure to precious metals amid subdued global sentiment and strength in the domestic currency.
