India, Aug. 6 -- Gold futures rose on Thursday, with the October contract gaining Rs 654, or 0.44%, to Rs 1,49,147 per 10 grams on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX).

The rise was driven by fresh buying by market participants amid firm demand in the spot market. The contract recorded a business turnover of 1,953 lots during the session.

Analysts attributed the gains in the precious metal to renewed long positions created by traders, supported by strong physical demand.
