India, Aug. 26 -- Goa Shipyard Ltd (GSL) has formally handed over ICGS Ajit, a state-of-the-art Fast Patrol Vessel, to the Indian Coast Guard, marking another milestone in India's indigenous defence shipbuilding capabilities.
The 51.43-metre-long vessel, with a displacement of 330 tonnes, has been built with more than 65% indigenous content, supporting the government's push for greater self-reliance in defence manufacturing.
ICGS Ajit is equipped with twin marine diesel engines and controllable pitch propellers, a first-of-its-kind feature for this class of Fast Patrol Vessels, aimed at improving propulsion efficiency and operational performance.
