India, Aug. 29 -- Former Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Urjit Patel has been appointed as the Executive Director at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), according to an order issued by the Personnel Ministry.

Patel had assumed charge as the 24th Governor of the RBI on September 4, 2016. However, he stepped down before completing his term, citing personal reasons, with his tenure formally ending on December 10, 2018, a day after his resignation.
