India, Jan. 13 -- Crude oil prices edged higher in futures trade on Tuesday, supported by firm spot demand and increased buying by market participants.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), crude oil contracts for February delivery gained Rs 62, or 1.16 per cent, to trade at Rs 5,409 per barrel, with a turnover of 8,806 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions taken by traders, amid steady demand in the physical market, helped keep crude oil futures in positive territory.
