India, Aug. 19 -- Crude oil futures slipped Rs 43 to Rs 5,501 per barrel on Tuesday as traders cut positions amid sluggish demand in the spot market.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), crude oil for September delivery dropped Rs 43, or 0.78 per cent, to Rs 5,501 per barrel in 3,314 lots.

Analysts noted that the decline was triggered by participants offloading holdings in response to muted spot demand.
