India, June 24 -- Copper prices edged lower in futures trade on Wednesday, with the July contract declining by Rs 5.45, or 0.42%, to Rs 1,296 per kg on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX).

The contract recorded a business turnover of 3,586 lots during the session.

Market participants attributed the decline to muted demand from domestic consuming industries, which weighed on sentiment and pressured copper prices in the futures market.
