India, May 4 -- Copper prices edged higher on Monday, with futures gaining Rs 1.45 to Rs 1,299.55 per kg, supported by improved demand in the spot market.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper contracts for June delivery rose Rs 1.45, or 0.11 per cent, to Rs 1,299.55 per kg, with a business turnover of 140 lots.

Analysts attributed the uptick to increased buying interest and fresh positions created by market participants amid firm spot demand.
