India, Jan. 7 -- Copper prices slipped in futures trade on Wednesday, tracking a pullback in global markets after recent record highs.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX), copper futures for January delivery declined by Rs 8.30, or 0.62 per cent, to Rs 1,330 per kilogram, with a business turnover of 14,557 lots.

The February contract also weakened, falling Rs 9.35, or 0.69 per cent, to Rs 1,350 per kg, with trading volume of 5,439 lots.

Market participants attributed the decline to profit booking as international copper prices cooled after touching record levels.
