India, Aug. 25 -- The Department of Consumer Affairs has launched a nationwide capacity-building programme for Legal Metrology Officers following recent reforms to the Legal Metrology Act, 2009, including decriminalisation measures and initiatives under the Jan Vishwas reforms aimed at improving ease of doing business.

The five-day specialised training programme is being conducted by the Indian Institute of Legal Metrology (IILM), Ranchi, for frontline officers from States and Union Territories. The latest programme, held from August 17-21, trained 38 officers from Uttar Pradesh, following an earlier session for Gujarat officials.
