India, July 17 -- Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu inaugurated a stakeholder workshop on the Modified UDAN Scheme at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, outlining the government's roadmap to further strengthen regional air connectivity across India. The modified version of the scheme was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 4, 2026.
Addressing the gathering, the minister highlighted the rapid expansion of India's aviation infrastructure, noting that the country has added 90 airports over the past 12 years, compared with just nine airports between 2001 and 2014. He also said that 55 previously unserved or underutilized airstrips have been revived and made operational under the government's regional connectivity initiatives.
