India, Sept. 4 -- The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved a ?1,500 crore incentive scheme to boost recycling capacity for critical minerals from secondary sources under the National Critical Mineral Mission (NCMM). The initiative aims to strengthen domestic supply chain resilience and reduce dependence on imports.
The scheme, spanning FY 2025-26 to FY 2030-31, will support recycling of e-waste, lithium-ion battery (LIB) scrap, catalytic converters, and other eligible feedstock. Beneficiaries will include both large recyclers and startups, with one-third of the outlay reserved for smaller players.
