India, Feb. 1 -- Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday projected the fiscal deficit at 4.3% of GDP for FY27, lower than the 4.4% estimate for the current financial year, signalling continued commitment to fiscal consolidation and debt reduction.
Presenting the Union Budget 2026–27, she said the government will provide Rs 1.4 lakh crore as tax devolution to states in the next fiscal year, while net tax receipts are estimated at Rs 28.7 lakh crore.
The overall size of the Union Budget has been pegged at Rs 53.5 lakh crore, as the Centre advances on a path of fiscal prudence and debt consolidation.
