India, Feb. 1 -- In a bid to strengthen micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday announced the creation of a dedicated cadre of 'corporate mitras' to assist businesses in Tier-II and Tier-III cities.
Presenting the Union Budget 2026–27, she said these corporate mitras will act as facilitators and mentors, helping MSMEs with guidance, compliance, financing access, and growth strategies.
The minister also proposed setting up an 'Education to Employment and Enterprise' Standing Committee, which will recommend targeted measures to enhance opportunities in the services sector and improve workforce readiness.
