India, Feb. 1 -- Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday announced a Rs 4,000 crore top-up to the Self-Reliant India Fund for FY27 to further strengthen support for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
The fund, originally launched in 2023, aims to infuse Rs 50,000 crore in equity financing into promising MSMEs with the potential to scale into large enterprises. The additional allocation is expected to improve capital access and fuel expansion for growth-oriented businesses.
While presenting the Union Budget 2026–27, the minister also proposed an integrated textile programme with five sub-components to boost the sector, especially at a time when it faces challenges from steep 50% tariffs imposed by the United States.
