India, Feb. 1 -- Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday proposed setting up a Rs 10,000 crore fund aimed at creating champion small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to strengthen the country's manufacturing base and drive economic growth.

Presenting the Union Budget 2026–27 in the Lok Sabha, she also announced a dedicated scheme for container manufacturing to build a globally competitive ecosystem and reduce import dependence.

Additionally, the government plans to establish mega textile parks with a strong focus on value addition in technical textiles to enhance India's position in the global textile market.
