India, Oct. 7 -- State-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has overtaken Bharti Airtel in new mobile subscriber additions for the first time in nearly a year, while Reliance Jio maintained its top position in August, as per the latest data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on Monday.
The total number of telephone subscribers in India rose to 122.45 crore at the end of August, up from 122 crore in July. The growth was primarily driven by a net addition of 35.19 lakh new mobile users during the month.
