India, June 9 -- The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority has facilitated the first export shipment of GI-tagged Tezpur Litchi from Assam to Dubai, marking a significant step in expanding international market access for agricultural products from India's North Eastern Region.
The one-metric-tonne consignment, exported on June 7, 2026, comprised the renowned Tezpur Litchi, a Geographical Indication (GI)-tagged fruit known for its sweetness, bright-red colour, distinctive aroma and superior quality. Popular varieties cultivated in the region include Bombaya, Bilati, Elaichi, Piyaji and Sahi.
