India, Jan. 28 -- Aluminium prices edged higher in futures trade on Wednesday, gaining nearly 1.47% to Rs 323.40 per kg, as speculators built fresh positions amid a firm trend in the spot market.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), aluminium contracts for February delivery rose by Rs 4.70, or 1.47%, to Rs 323.40 per kg, with business turnover of 8,874 lots.

Analysts attributed the uptick in aluminium futures to fresh buying by traders, supported by demand from consuming industries, which helped lift prices in the futures market.
