Pakistan, Aug. 14 -- President Asif Ali Zardari has approved military awards for 1,172 personnel from Pakistan's armed forces and civil armed forces in recognition of their services.

The president also approved several summaries submitted by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, covering parliamentary sessions, prisoner sentence remissions and national awards for civilians.

Accordingly, the National Assembly and Senate will meet on August 17, with the lower house scheduled for 5pm and the upper house session starting at 6pm.

On Independence Day and Eid Milad-un-Nabi, Zardari also approved a special 100-day reduction in sentences for eligible prisoners as part of the celebrations.
