Pakistan, Sept. 7 -- Increasingly severe wildfires and heat waves are threatening global air quality, according to the World Meteorological Organization. The UN weather warned that climate change could make air-quality targets harder to achieve. It called for stronger action to protect public health.

In its annual report, the WMO linked air pollution closely with climate change. The said governments should address both challenges through coordinated policies. It warned that extreme wildfires could make meeting World Health Organization air-quality guidelines more difficult.
