Pakistan, July 24 -- A massive wildfire in southern Cyprus has killed two people and forced hundreds to evacuate, as flames tore through homes during a record-breaking heatwave. Authorities discovered the victims inside a burned-out vehicle, unable to escape the rapidly spreading fire. Police confirmed that at least ten people were injured, with two in serious condition.
The fire began around midday on Wednesday in a wine-producing region north of Limassol and had burned about 100 square kilometers by Thursday morning. Despite overnight pauses, firefighting aircraft resumed operations at dawn to control several active fire fronts. Limassol's skies glowed red as strong winds fueled the destruction.
