Pakistan, July 25 -- Wheat prices have climbed sharply across Pakistan, with market rates reaching as high as Rs4,850 per 40 kilograms, raising concerns over alleged hoarding and market manipulation despite lower government procurement prices.

According to market reports, the governments of Punjab and Sindh purchased wheat from farmers during the Rabi harvest at a support price of Rs3,500 per 40 kilograms. However, wheat is now reportedly being sold in the open market between Rs4,700 and Rs4,850 per 40 kilograms in several cities.
