Pakistan, May 1 -- The United States Navy is expanding the use of artificial intelligence to detect and counter naval mines in the Strait of Hormuz. The move comes amid ongoing maritime tensions linked to the Iran conflict and threats to global shipping routes. The initiative aims to speed up mine detection operations.

The contract has been awarded to AI firm Domino Data Lab to support naval mine-hunting capabilities. The system is designed to help underwater drones identify and classify mines more quickly and accurately. Officials say the technology could significantly reduce response times.
