Pakistan, Aug. 1 -- A US Marine Corps F-35B fighter jet crashed near Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in San Diego on Friday, with the pilot safely ejecting before the aircraft went down, military officials confirmed.

According to a spokesperson for Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, the aviation incident occurred at around 10:00am local time (1700 GMT) in the vicinity of the military base. Emergency response teams were immediately dispatched to the crash site.
