The United Nations has warned that rising global temperatures are severely harming workers' health and productivity, urging governments, employers, and health authorities to take urgent steps against worsening heat stress dangers.

Extreme heat now threatens both outdoor and indoor workers as heatwaves become more frequent and intense, the World Health Organization (WHO) and World Meteorological Organization (WMO) said while releasing new global guidance.

Manual workers in agriculture, fisheries, and construction are among the hardest hit, with productivity dropping two to three percent for every degree above 20degC, leading to serious economic and health impacts.
