Pakistan, July 7 -- Typhoon Danas tore through Taiwan's west coast late Sunday, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. The powerful storm killed two people, injured nearly 500, and caused widespread power outages across the country.

With winds reaching up to 222 kilometers per hour, the storm made landfall in Chiayi County - a rare and unusual path, according to the Central Weather Administration. Though the typhoon moved out of Taiwan early Monday, heavy rainfall continued in several areas.
