Pakistan, Aug. 17 -- Heavy rain flooded low-lying areas of Rawalpindi and Islamabad on Monday, inundating streets and homes. At least one person died and 35 were injured in a motorway pile-up.

The National Weather Forecasting Centre recorded 107mm rainfall in Pirwadhai and 80mm in Gawalmandi. Islamabad's Golra recorded the highest rainfall at 146mm.

Floodwater reached six feet in Kattarian and three feet in Gawalmandi, according to weather authorities. Several residential areas also reported water entering homes.
