Pakistan, Oct. 9 -- Turkey has ruled out sending troops to Yemen to fight Houthi forces despite its defence agreement with Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said the pact is defensive, not offensive.

Fidan said Turkey would support an ally if it faced an attack. However, he stressed that Ankara would not send troops into another country to launch attacks. The comments came amid renewed Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia.
Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan signed the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement in August. The pact treats an armed attack on one member as an attack on all three. However, Turkey's parliament still needs to ratify the agreement.
