Pakistan, Aug. 11 -- Around 75% of United Nations member countries have either recognised or plan to recognise Palestinian statehood soon. Australia became the latest country to announce it will officially recognise Palestine at the UN General Assembly in September. This growing support reflects a renewed global push following the Israel-Hamas war that began in October 2023.
The conflict has revived calls to grant Palestinians an independent state, breaking away from the long-held belief that statehood could only come through peace negotiations with Israel. According to reports, at least 145 out of 193 UN members now support Palestinian statehood, including major nations like France, Canada, and Britain.
