Pakistan, June 3 -- Three members of the British Royal Navy were killed when a military helicopter crashed during a training exercise in southwest England early Wednesday. The incident matters because it represents a significant loss for the armed forces and has prompted an official investigation. The victims' families, the Royal Navy, and the wider defence community are directly affected.

The Ministry of Defence said the personnel were aboard a Merlin Mk4 helicopter when it came down near the village of Sourton in Devon shortly before 4am local time. Emergency services responded to the scene, but all three service members died in the crash.
