Pakistan, Aug. 10 -- Tension that had persisted for nearly two months in Mirpur and several other districts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has eased considerably, with routine life gradually returning to normal, residents and local sources said on Sunday.

Political activities had remained intense in two divisions of AJK during the recent general elections, with various political parties fielding candidates and mobilizing supporters, resulting in heightened political activity across several areas. With the gradual improvement in the situation, markets in cities and towns have started regaining their usual bustle, while commercial activities are also picking up, reducing uncertainty and anxiety among residents.
