Pakistan, Aug. 1 -- A commercial tanker was damaged after being struck by an "unknown projectile" off the coast of Oman on Saturday, according to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), as tensions remain high around the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.

The UKMTO said the incident occurred approximately 12.5 nautical miles off Lima, Oman, where the vessel reported that an unidentified projectile hit its engine room, causing damage.

Despite the impact, no injuries were reported among the crew, and authorities have not yet identified the source of the projectile or attributed responsibility for the attack.
