Pakistan, Sept. 17 -- The death toll from the PIMS Hospital fire has risen to 15 after the only rescued infant died. Aizal died while receiving treatment in the intensive care unit, according to sources. The latest death adds to the number of newborns killed in the hospital fire.

According to sources, a nurse rescued Aizal during the blaze and moved her to safety. Medical staff later transferred the infant to the intensive care unit for treatment. Despite receiving medical care, she could not survive and later died.

Earlier reports said 14 newborns had died in the PIMS nursery fire. Aizal was the only infant rescued alive from the affected nursery. Her death has now raised the number of children killed in the incident to 15.
