Pakistan, Sept. 29 -- Somalia's maritime police have recovered the hijacked oil tanker MT Honor 25 from pirates and rescued its crew. The operation took place in Somalia's semi-autonomous Puntland region.

According to Somali authorities, pirates hijacked the Palau-flagged tanker in April. The vessel was carrying fuel for Somali traders when it came under pirate control.

Puntland Maritime Police Force personnel stormed the tanker and safely rescued 17 crew members, according to a statement. The operation involved both maritime and ground forces.
